The Legends & History Of Castle Hill, Huddersfield

Andrew was brought up in Honley near Holmfirth, within sight of Castle Hill, and from being a small child was fascinated by its iconic tower, which would often loom out of the early morning mist as he walked to school as if it had materialised from a book of fairy tales.

Andrew read History and Ancient History at Keele University, which reinforced his interest in local history. Since researching, writing and illustrating his first book ‘The Curse of the Lambton Worm’ (a legend from County Durham) in 2009 he has been determined to research the background to Castle Hill.

Andrew’s thanks go to Julian Brown, the Castle Hill Ranger, whose enthusiasm for the history and legends of Castle Hill has been a great encouragement in the writing of this book, which is now published as a revised 2nd edition following further research.
